The Jewish Husband by Lia Levi (Europa Editions), newly translated from Italian by Antony Shugar, is a tender love story set in wartime Italy, when the country was ruled by Mussolini’s oppressive racial laws.
The novel, written with sensitivity and insight, won the Alberto Moravia Prize for Literature, when it was published in Italy. The author is the editor in chief of Shalom, the monthly magazine of the Jewish community of Rome.
